Advance your Skills at Out There! Fleet
After gaining the essential sailing skills from Out There Sailing at Oxenford sailors are invited to join the Out There Fleet at Hollywell Sailing Squadron
Sailors will learn to sail the Hobie Wave Catamarans and Open Skiff Bics in open water conditions.
Key skills gained here involve navigating stronger winds, tides, channel markings, and other boats.
Once sailors have shown competency in all areas of sailing they will be invited to start racing in Southport Yacht Club's Off The Beach Catamaran/Dinghy races.
There will also be opportunity for special sailing events, social events, beach trips, camp trips, and a range of other on water activity
Prerequisites:
- Aged 12-17
- Out There Sailing (Oxenford) or Sailing Team
- Coach Assessment and Invitation
- Proficient small boat Skipper
To progress further, it is essential that sailors start looking at purchasing their own sailboats.
It is widely recommended that first time buyers look at purchasing a Laser 4.7 Dinghy or Nacra 350 Catamaran.

Program Focus:
Following the structure and instruction in learn-to-sail programs. Green Fleet is an introduction to coaching and learning to train.
Green Fleet promotes practicing the fundamental skills of sailing, introduces some foundation race skills through training activities in an environment that is enjoyable, without a competition focus.
During the Program sailors are encouraged to take part in freesail activity, and to trial a variety of boats, boards, and other club related activity through age appropriate design.
