Start Racing launches this coming Saturday 7th September 2024
This new program helps sailors get into racing using the SYC Hobie Wave Catamarans in the Off the Beach Catamaran Division Races at Hollywell Sailing Squadron.
Open to the Public, club membership is not required!
Southport Yacht Club runs Off The Beach Catamaran (OTBC) racing on select Saturdays throughout the year as per the Sailing Instructions.
The Sailing Instructions are the rules that govern Club Racing and outline everything you need to know when racing.
When: Saturdays 11:00am-3:30pm, as per registration and Sailing Instructions 
Where: Hollywell Sailing Squadron, 1 Marina Cres, Hollywell 4216
Cost: $100 per boat, max 4 persons per boat (max 2 recommended for speed)

Pre-requisites:
- Australian Sailing Number (acquired through booking)
- Understand the fundamental Rules of Racing
- Understand the Sailing Instructions (please read before attending)
- Competent Sailor: able to rig, navigate, skipper independently without support or supervision
- Water Confident
- Children under 18 to be accompanied by an adult
* We recommend completing the Intermediate Learn to Sail course with us prior to racing.

On Arrival:
Proceed to the Hollywell Race Office to sign in
OTBC Race Briefing commences at 11am, please arrive 15mins prior to sign-in and get ready.
Boats will be available from 11:30
Lifejackets are mandatory and can be borrowed from the Race Office.
Note: This is not a Learn to Sail course, there is no instructor. Participants are expected to rig and maneuver their boat without support. There will be Volunteers on support-vessels during the race for safety only.
